Nguyen Hong Truong
Mr. Nguyen Hong Truong is the Director of Business and Technology Development for IDG Ventures Vietnam, the first ventures fund in Vietnam focusing on technology, telecom, digital content and online services. Prior to IDG, Mr. Truong worked for several U.S. strategic management consulting firms including Development Alternative Inc. and J. E. Austin Associates, and developed marketing and branding strategies for Procter & Gamble. An M.B.A. in Management Information Systems & Computer Resource Management and a lawyer of Hanoi Bar Association, Mr. Truong has coordinated an economic competitiveness program with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Mr. Truong is currently a member of the Board of Judges on Vietnam National Television game show series “Easy Being Rich,” a popular program of business strategies similar to “The Apprentice” show in the U.S.

PHAM Minh Tuan
Dr. Pham Minh Tuan is Vice Director of Hanoi Advanced School of Science and Technology (HAST), and Director of CRC-TOPIC Business Incubator at Hanoi University of Technology. CRC-TOPIC has been selected by World Bank into 4/62 highlighted incubators worldwide, and chosen by Development Gateway Award into top 7/160 global finalists in 2006. The incubator has nurtured 70 businesses and ICT centers in all 64 provinces of Vietnam, including some mobile service companies. Mr. Pham has been on the judging panel of national software competition Trí Tue Viet Nam since 2003. Before his return to Vietnam, he held senior positions at strategy consulting group McKinsey & Company,venture capital fund Extramedia Ventures and software company Integra, working in Boston, Budapest, New York, and Singapore. He received a MBA from New York University, a MSc (Information Technology) and a PhD (Information Management) from Budapest University of Technology and Economics.and a PhD (Information Management) from Budapest University of Technology and Economics.

Mr. Patrick Burke
From Melbourne, Australia, Patrick Burke has a professional association with Vietnam going back over 18 years when he first came to Vietnam. With a background in education as a teacher, author and curriculum development specialist and post-graduate qualifications related to historical and contempoary Vietnam, Patrick is the Country Coordinator for the Academy for Educational Development, a US-based not for profit organisation specialising in health and education programs.

International Judges

Christopher Foss
Mr. Foss has an extensive background in developing internet-based strategic marketing and website design for a diverse range of US companies. In addition to co-founding and managing the innovative online outdoor retailer, The Daily Zort, Mr. Foss is Mid-Atlantic Director of a leading US web development company, Americaneagle.com, and Chief Technology Advisor for Cyber Century Forum and NextGen Awards and Mentors. Early in his career, Mr. Foss worked for the Global Information Infrastructure Commission, which was established in cooperation with the World Bank to foster the roles of telecom and information technology in expanding global economic development.

Denis Tse
Denis Tse is an Associate Director with HSBC Private Equity (Asia). He has been in venture capital investing since 1998, having worked with Warburg Pincus, Whitney & Co. and Piper Jaffray Ventures. Denis was also a co-founder of Acasia Technologies, a fiber-optic start-up incubated at Hong Kong Applied Science & Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) that was eventually acquired by TDK. Denis has a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and an MBA from INSEAD, and is the first Kauffman Fellow from an Asian private equity firm.
